This little courtyard area was very colorful and had a lot going on.  Really got my creative juices going.

Bourke St. Shoppers

8x10"
Oil on Canvas

I’ve wanted to do this painting for a while now.  It took about two nights to complete this painting while working around a busy schedule.  But I’m happy with the outcome.  I like the contrast created by the depth of field with the crispness of the women against the backdrop.
This takes place in Melbourne, Australia.  Two women crossing over the tram tracks on Bourke St.  I remember this being one of the hottest days in the city.

Taking a Break

8x10"
Oil on hardboard

In early 2011, I was in Melbourne, Australia, and took a load of pictures of people doing their thing in the city.  It was a hot as blazes kind of day and these two guys, with loaded shopping bags, made for an interesting image as people were exiting the tram.  I still try to keep in mind that I need to stay loose on these paintings or they will turn into a five day painting session.
